Individual adult counselling
Our work together can range from brief, solution-focused interventions to more intensive, long-term therapeutic exploration. To establish a strong foundation and build therapeutic momentum, I generally find that most clients benefit from meeting at least every two weeks initially. As our therapeutic relationship develops and you become more confident in the tools and strategies we discuss during our time together, we can collaboratively decide to increase the duration between sessions. This transition supports your growing autonomy and ensures you feel empowered to practice and integrate these skills into your daily life.
Couples Counselling
My work with couples involves helping both parties develop a more objective view of the problem and a deeper understanding of what is keeping maladaptive patterns continuing. By fostering a neutral environment, I assist partners in identifying the underlying dynamics that contribute to conflict and disconnection.
I have specific specialties in supporting couples where there is compulsive or addictive behaviour and who are needing support around addressing issues within the relationship that are making it more difficult on both parties. My approach focuses on navigating the complexities of recovery within the relational system, ensuring that both individuals feel heard and supported as they address these significant challenges. Additionally, I have specific experience working with couples dealing with infertility and pregnancy loss, providing a compassionate space to process the unique grief and stress these experiences bring to a partnership.
Youth Counselling
Having begun my career in youth counselling, I remain deeply passionate about supporting young people and their families. I provide a warm and unconditionally supportive environment for youth navigating challenges such as OCD, anxiety, disordered eating, and problematic substance use. My approach integrates accessible tools designed to foster well-being and active engagement. To ensure the best outcomes, I require parents to participate in at least a few sessions alongside their child.
Parent support
Parents are not to blame for their child’s mental health issues, the development of which is far too complex for there to be a single cause, but the power of parents and caregivers in their young person’s healing cannot be denied. The family will naturally end up molding around any identified problematic coping in the family and parent/family support can at times be even more essential and helpful than only the young person attending counselling. During parent support sessions our work would be focused around supporting you around any blocks and fears you might have and improving your communication and relationship with your loved one. I have been working within family systems for my whole counselling career and am a parent myself,
Clinical Case Consultation
I have been working as a therapist for close to sixteen years, beginning my career in 2009. My professional journey has provided me with extensive experience across both the non-profit sector—including eight years in a youth substance use program—and the solo practitioner sphere. I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) with the BCACC N. My educational background includes a Masters in Counselling Psychology completed in 2016, and I have practiced internationally, notably in London, UK, where I worked with a feminist organization as a trauma-focused counsellor.
In addition to my clinical practice, I am expanding my professional scope into supervision. I have completed a 30-hour supervision course and am currently working toward obtaining my Approved Clinical Supervisor (ACS) designation. While I complete the required hours for this designation, I am offering case consultation at a below-market rate. My philosophy as a supervisor and consultant is deeply rooted in genuine collaboration, deep empathy, and a mutual commitment to learning, integrating person-centred and feminist values with Constructivist theory and ACT principles.
If you are interested in case consultation, please contact me directly. I am committed to making these services accessible and am open to discussing a rate that would be attainable for you.
Exposure and Response Prevention
ERP is the gold standard treatment for Anxiety and OCD ( its principles also work for so many human issues in regards to change). It involves exposing oneself to feared situations or thoughts without engaging in compulsive behaviors or rituals, with the goal of tolerating discomfort and reducing anxiety over time. Key techniques used in this approach include in vivo and imaginal exposures, as well as scripting intrusive thoughts. I combine ERP with Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to support mindfulness skills and mindset shift with Somatic Trauma Therapy to ensure I am working with your readiness level and window of tolerance.
Somatic Trauma Therapy
This form of processing is designed to keep you in your window of tolerance so we can safely access these memories in a way that helps you get unstuck from your trauma response. By working within this optimal zone of arousal, we ensure that your nervous system remains regulated, preventing overwhelm or shutdown during the therapeutic process. It is not a necessity to go over the narrative of the trauma in detail to achieve healing; we will instead go into the memories in a gradual and safe manner, while supporting you with specific regulation tools. This approach allows us to address the physiological and emotional imprints of trauma without requiring a full verbal recount of the events. The general goal of trauma therapy is to improve your self-trust, feel safer in your own body and mind again, and to be more free in your choices in life.
