I started working as a counsellor in 2010 with teens, young adults and parents. This is where I learnt a great deal around the difficulties humans experience in truly wanting to make changes, but being stunted by pain and the ways our brains work that do not always work in our favour. Many of the young people I worked with had dealt with a great deal of trauma in their young lives and from there i wanted to be more specialised and equipped to work with trauma.

I moved to London, UK after completing my Masters and begun working with a specialist program supporting women and girls who had experienced Domestic and/or sexual violence. A great deal of the work was supporting clients to feel safer in their bodies and minds, increase their self trust and acceptance and build a bigger picture of themselves that was not discarding of what happened to them, but did not increase their identity of being a victim. While the women came in because of the distress from their trauma, the work was also often around relationships, managing compulsive behaviours and building a more peaceful relationship with themselves.

I experienced a great deal of anxiety after moving to London and struggled a great deal within myself. Even though I was and am a therapist, I really struggled to see how I was dealing with the problem was actually making the problem worse and I was diagnosed with OCD. I was proactive and did all the things one could do to manage the problem and make it go away, but it just became another obsession and I doubted everything I did.

After the birth of my daughter, my mental health took another dive and I knew I needed to have a different approach this time. I needed to start practicing what I had been preaching with clients - Acceptance, Self compassion and becoming more honest around where I was avoiding things and leaning on my safety behaviours.

My story, as well as from what I have witnessed with clients over the years has informed my work today greatly. I still provide and value processing work, but I now blend in more psycho education and support around managing difficult thought patterns, tolerating difficult emotions, getting clear about what the root of the problem is and helping clients get clear about what it is in their life they are wanting.

I am here to help you, wherever you are at in your journey
